Founded in 2019 by techno artist Mike Molokhia, a.k.a. SKiRRA Mechanikal started its life as a platform in which to creatively express himself within the techno scene under the name of MiSiNKi.
As the brand grew, so did the MiSiNKi project. Before long, the label had far surpassed any expectations and soon, the movers and shakers of the techno world were starting to take notice of the label, largely thanks to the seemingly meteoric rise of the labels supporting radio show The Mechanikal Techno Show, which was hosted on the globally recognised online platform ‘Techno Live Sets’.
After enjoying exponential success, Mechanikal started to attract some huge artists. The first year was insane and saw release after release chart in the Beatport Techno charts, thanks to the brands upward momentum. MiSiNKi started to gain popularity also, racking up releases on some of Techno’s most respected labels.
As with most others in the music industry at that time, the biggest blow to creative arts to date hit and COVID decleared itself the new player in the game, leaving Mechanikal and MiSiNKi with a period of reflection that changed the way that Mechanikal and MiSiNKi would approach the techno world when it finally opened its doors again in late 2020.
As a creative; from a young age, Mike’s passion had always been on the harder side of music. playing guitar as a young lad in various metal bands and even enjoying minor success with Nu Metal outfit mr. 44. The call from the darkside of Techno now had its chance to wisper its intention. through that wisper, amongst the midst of a global crisis; SKiRRA was born.
once the intention had been made to make the transition, so did the record label. it didnt take long for SKiRRA to get picked up by some of the most successful hard techno labels around and within less than a year of embracing this newfound project and sound, SKiRRA had already released E.P. after E.P. with labels like David Tamessi’s DSR Digital and D.A.V.E. The Drummers legendary Hydraulix and A.P’s notorious Refined Format.
With every success, Mechanikal enjoyed the same level of momentum. As SKiRRA’s music was being played by extensively on national radio stations by artist such as SPFDJ and 999999, Mechanikal was atracting harder and more relevent producers such as D.A.V.E The Drummer, Carl Shorts, John P, Marcello Perri and Sub[X]tort.
Over the years, the label recieved many top 10 singles placements and had flirted as being in one of Hard Techno’s top 10 imprints.
Just as momentum was in full swing, SKiRRA was hit with health issues in 2023 which forced the label into a hietus.
But the break meant that SKiRRA could regroup ad reposition Mechanikal to not just be a label that’s artist led mission of integrity remained intact, but that Mechanikal as a brand could become more than just a digital label.
With the help of some artistic legends and incredible support from his wife Dalia, SKiRRA has suceeded in creating what he always dreamed to create. A place of community, for techno lovers, espiring producers and passionate DJ’s to come together and celebrate the quality and excellence of what techno stands for.
This is the story of Mechanikal…and it’s only just begun.
